چکیده

The strut-and-tie model (STM) method is useful for the limit state design of reinforced concrete (RC) corbels. However, rational RC corbels, designers must accurately determine strengths struts and nodal zones to check strength conditions a selected STM anchorage reinforcing bars in zones. In this study, authors suggested numerical process determining corbel STMs. technique incorporates two-dimensional (2-D) stresses at strut zone locations, 2-D failure envelope concrete, deviation angle between orientation compressive principal stress trajectory, effect confinement by bars. also proposed equations that apply typical determinate indeterminate STMs considered effects shear span-to-effective depth ratio, horizontal-to-vertical load primary tensile horizontal reinforcement ratios developing equations. predicted 391 corbels tested examine appropriateness compares very well with experimental results, proving analysis are possible using present study's strengths. Refinement of Strut-and-Tie Model for Reinforced Concrete Deep Beams

Deep beams are commonly used in tall buildings, offshore structures, and foundations. According to many codes and standards, strut-and-tie model (STM) is recommended as a rational approach for deep beam analyses. This research focuses on the STM recommended by ACI 318-11 and AASHTO LRFD and uses experimental results to modify the strut effectiveness factor in STM for reinforced concrete (RC) de...

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...

Performance-based Optimization of Strut-and-tie Models in Reinforced Concrete Beam-column Connections

This paper presents the performance-based optimization of strut-and-tie models in reinforced concrete beam-column connections. The performance-based optimization (PBO) technique is employed to investigate optimal strut-and-tie models in reinforced concrete beam-column connections. Developing strut-and-tie models in reinforced concrete beam-column connections is treated as a topology optimizatio...

Topology Optimization of Strut-and-Tie Models in Non-Flexural Reinforced Concrete Members

This paper deals with the topology optimization of strut-and-tie models in non-flexural reinforced concrete members by using the Evolutionary Structural Optimization (ESO) method for plane stress continuum structures with displacement constraints. By means of systematically removing elements that have less contribution to the stiffness from the discritized concrete member, the actual load paths...
